Hey Skippy...

Frank has come up with a damn funny idea about why we're not threatening North Korea with the same things we're threating Iraq with. He may have a better point than he realizes. We don't need to trade with North Korea. We can take our good elsewhere, especially since they're not too keen on doing anything but taking our stuff, and not paying terribly high dollar for it.

Go ahead, Korea, nuke us, see who gives you aid then.

There's a good statement here: they're so desperate for economic aid they're willing to threaten people to try to get what they want, the same way the little annoying kid in class threatened to get you and your friends after school.

The US has exactly the right response: Bite Me.

Stupidity Abounds in the Heart of Virginia

Okay this makes me want to utterly puke. There is no law against drinking just against drinking and driving, which is morally reprehensible.

This means the next time you go tie one on and catch a cab on home, the police could arrest you for that. This is ludicrous!

Update:
I feel that I need to explain my outrage a bit better here. It's not that I'm for getting hammered, or people getting utterly blitzed, it's that I'm for the police not overstepping their grounds. A bar is a place where people are allowed to be sold alcohol, a drug that will intoxicate them, under the law and under the supervision of a licensed bartender. Being drunk isn't the crime they're trying to stop, they're trying to stop DUIs, which I can appreciate.

This sort of behavior counteracts those who "drink responsibly" and either take a cab home, walk home, or stay longer and sober up before going home. It gives them no reason to do anything like that since they're going to get cited anyway. This doesn't reward responsible behavior, it instead punishes it further.

Besides, there are other laws that can work here. If a patron is drunk and disorderly, the bar can throw him out. In addition, bartenders can't serve intoxicated individuals, so that solves that issue.

What really bothers me here is the Minority Report feel to their actions. They're arresting before the real crime (DUI) is committed, but copping to a lesser offense to do it. Yes, DUI is a problem, and alcohol is the root cause here, but alcohol is still legal or did I miss the re-enactment of Prohibition? We need to stop this kind of madness.
