Pre Expo Jitters! Tomorrow morning I leave for MacWorld, flying from Dulles to Oakland on JetBlue and taking Amtrak to Davis to spend a few days with my parents before Keynote on the 7th. I've already made my Predictions for Expo and that's the most fun. As it stands, we're still working on Press Credentials for MacWorld and Keynote Passes, but we'll work something out, I'm sure. This Expo will be my first as a productive member of the Mac Community. I'll be there both as a writer for http://www.macslash.org and as a part of an IT team for an all Mac organization. Either hat is no longer a trivial thing to me, I know the hours you have to put in, have appreciation for those that deal with this stuff on a daily basis. I'm excited to join the Mac Managers meeting before the Keynote. I'm excited to be on the floor looking for stuff that will make work more enjoyable as well, not to mention more productive.

Miasma in the House of Bite Me has quite possibly the damn coolest name of any blog I've run across. Not to mention the thrashing he gives to Po Bronson, this site is worth your pageviews. Especially because of Po Bronson. Po Bronson's part of the reason I'm as disillusioned as I am. Mofo had me believing that when I left college I could sign on with one of these new dotcoms like I'd been reading about in Wired, and make a million bucks overnight doing something rigoddamndiculous. Note to self, thrash Po Bronson. |

Predictions for Expo In talking with a few birdies at the Apple Store, I've discovered that the retail outlets: One, are out of airport cards and Two, are out of iPods. This suggests two things to me: 802.11g airport basestations and cards are imminents and that something significant is happening to the iPod. My guess: Pictures or Video are coming to the iPod. I think this is also the year for Rendezvous. Enter Philips, makers of TiVo. A little while back, Marc Canter snuck us this gem. Can you say iPhoto to TiVo over Rendezvous? Because I sure can. What else could use some rendezvous support? Well, iTunes. We were promised a working model of library sharing over the Rendezvous network a while back and it's high time we saw it. What else? QuickTime. Got a movie on one machine? Need to see it on another? Rendezvous can do that for ya, firing up your QTSS right quick and streaming it with a similar engine to the one that's going to handle your MP3s in iTunes. Last but not least: iChat. What you say? It already has Rendezvous? Right-o, but this iChat does video too. Mark me down folks, there's my predictions. Thoughts? Comments? Have I been hitting the crack pipe too hard?
