iCame, iSaw, iConquered

If you haven't yet, check out iConquer. It's Risk, made pretty for OS X. It's also Rendezvous-enabled, so you can grab opponents over the network with ease. It's $13 shareware, but with a 7 day preview and likely, I'll buy it. Hell, the guy's website's even cool.

Music Rant

Okay folks, my inner music snob is crying out "havoc!" and letting slip the dogs of war. So if you want to skip the vitriol, move on down.

As a trained musician, my inner ear revolts deeply and loudly when someone does something musically awful. Like the national anthem today at the football game between the Steelers and the Titans. Natalie Cole, shame on you. I know that you want to be cutting edge with your music, but that was quite possibly the worst performance of the Star Spangled Banner I have ever ever heard. Your choir was using harmonies that the Star Spangled Banner just wasn't written for. And they were bad.

Okay, I'm by no means a harmony nazi, but you don't use overtone chords with the Star Spangled Banner. You don't use minor/major 6th chords with the Star Spangled Banner. I'm all for cool things that are going on in music, some jazz, some good arrangements with brass, with flute, with liturgical dance, but your arrangement was an abomination.

I'm not always this angry with musicians, really I'm not. But that arrangement was godawful. And she owes the whole damn country an apology.

More Blogs!

Some quick googling and such has turned up six blogs that needed to be added at right. They are...

Chris and Gretchen are a great pair. They run Lockergnome with Jake and Lori and while they're split between the Bay Area (where Chris and Gretchen are) and Iowa (where Lori and Jake are), they're one big family. Great folks.

Also, we've got Courtney and Mike who were also on the trolley with us during that wild and crazy time. Great folks, more blogs to read! W00t.

Look at these awesome guys!

Here's a pic the Lockergnome folks took of us. I'm in the middle. Neil's on my left, Ben on my right.
