NYTimes: "The Iraqi government called Wednesday for the return of junior officers from the disbanded army of Saddam Hussein, openly reversing an American directive issued in 2003."
They may be thinking the Americans are torturing just like Saddam did, so where's the difference, just re-install the old dictatorship.

EUObserver: "Speculation is mounting on the possible location of camps where the CIA interrogates al Qaeda suspects in eastern Europe, with Poland and Romania being earmarked as the most likely spots."
Eastern Europe? This is Europe for Christ's sake, Poland is already a member of the EU and Romania will be in 2007.

LasVegasSun: "The Bush Administration's prewar claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction were 'manipulated, at least' to mislead the American people, former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday."

TheNation: "Last week, the United Methodist Church Board of Church and Society - the social action committee of the church that both President Bush and Vice President Cheney belong to - resoundingly passed a resolution calling for withdrawal with only two 'no' votes and one abstention."

Independent: "Tony Blair's plans for tough new anti-terror legislation have been subjected to a damning critique by Amnesty International, as MPs prepare to debate the measures today.
In a submission to MPs, Amnesty International denounced the proposals to increase police powers of detention and make a new offence of the glorification of terrorism. It called them 'ill-conceived and dangerous', amounting to an attack on 'the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law'."

Independent: "Tony Blair's majority slumped to just one yesterday after a humiliating revolt against the Government's planned anti-terror laws."
