Guardian: "An Israeli army officer who fired the entire magazine of his automatic rifle into a 13-year-old Palestinian girl and then said he would have done the same even if she had been three years old was acquitted on all charges by a military court yesterday."

WashingtonPost: "A White House document shows that executives from big oil companies met with Vice President Cheney's energy task force in 2001 - something long suspected by environmentalists but denied as recently as last week by industry officials testifying before Congress.
The document, obtained this week by The Washington Post, shows that officials from Exxon Mobil Corp., Conoco (before its merger with Phillips), Shell Oil Co. and BP America Inc. met in the White House complex with the Cheney aides who were developing a national energy policy, parts of which became law and parts of which are still being debated."

So the US oil company executives have lied about this to the senators.
it is clear that the Bush regime is in cahoots with the oil industry.

AlterNet: "According to the National Resources Defense Council, corporations 'funnel cash through ALEC to curry favor with state lawmakers through junkets and other largesse in the hopes of enacting special interest legislation - all the while keeping safely outside the public eye'."

And if we are to believe the stories about a planned exit from Iraq, it will only be to deploy the troops elsewhere.
CounterPunch: "In this his time of troubles, Bush seems to be moving deliberately and rapidly toward new wars of aggression in an unforgivable gamble to overcome his troubles.
The people and the politicians of this country should rise from their apathy and shout, 'No'. The time is past for useless analysis and discussion. We Americans, accounting for no more than five percent of the human inhabitants of this globe, should decide here and now whether we are going to be moral or immoral in our future relationships with the rest of the world."

The massacre of Fallujah shows what Bush is capable of.
New weapons were used there to destroy buildings and bury their occupants. The latest is the new urban combat weapon, the SMAW-NE.
DefenseTech: "This is a version of the standard USMC Shoulder Mounted Assault Weapon but with a new warhead. Described as NE - 'Novel Explosive' - it is a thermobaric mixture which ignites the air, producing a shockwave of unparalleled destructive power, especially against buildings.
An NE round would incinerate the target or literally level the structure."

SeattleTimes: "Expressing growing unease over the war in Iraq, the Senate voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to compel the Bush administration to explain its strategy for completing the U.S. mission in Iraq and bringing American troops home."

Telegraph: "Britain is putting the final touches to an exit strategy from Iraq that will be launched with next month's election of a permanent new government in Baghdad."

WebIndia: "Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak today called upon the United States to reduce its forces in Iraq, saying Washington had made mistakes and its continued presence in that country would complicate the problem with fallout in the entire West Asia."

Confessions of a repentant Republican: "We must reframe the terms of debate to reclaim America's authentic vision.
We cannot permit a war begun for the purpose of disarming a tyrant to be used to justify the permanent unwanted occupation of a foreign land.
We must never enable the rhetoric of patriotism and faith to support a policy of domination pursued through deception.
Nor the rhetoric of fear to blind us to the dismantling of the legal framework for our freedoms.
We can no longer tolerate business-as-usual politicians in either party who will not act to reassert historic constitutional restraints on executive power, end a misguided war, and repel the perilous assault on civil liberties.
Blind adherence to the false conceits of those whose quest is world domination can lead only to continued erosion of our moral authority, our esteem and influence abroad, and damage to our freedoms and democracy at home."

BBCSpoof: "'We cannot risk changing course now', Tony Blair said today, as the government published proposals to cancel parliamentary elections.
Mr Blair said that the police had advised him that elections would be dangerous. 'They would divert attention from the war on terror', he said. 'If the public chose a new government, that would be a victory for terrorism. We must not take that chance. Holding elections would be contrary to the strong advice given to us by our security services and our police, and I am simply not prepared to do it.'"

Give Tony a chance and he'd do it.
