Boston: "The nation's biggest oil companies defended their combined quarterly profits of more than $30 billion on Wednesday at a Senate hearing where lawmakers demanded to know when prices would ease."
The oil companies are earning big money now thanks to the war and in particular the soldiers who are risking their lives for the neocon profiteers.

SanLuisObispo: "Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says he is more concerned about the leak of information regarding secret CIA detention centers than activity in the prisons themselves."
When it suits them the GOP is all for leaking (see the Plame case), when the leak is to meant to expose criminal conduct, in particular torture, they condemn it. Which again shows how criminal the GOP has become.

"President Bush recently declared: 'We do not torture'. That is exactly what the world needs to hear.
Yet Vice President Dick Cheney is working behind the scenes to gut a Senate-passed ban on torture and abuse of prisoners. Why is the White House saying one thing and doing another?"
Send a letter to Bush.

Interfax: "Ukraine will end the withdrawal of its soldiers from Iraq by December 30, 2005, Ukrainian Defense Minister Anatoliy Gritsenko said."

LATimes: "Suicide bombers carried out nearly simultaneous attacks on three Western chain hotels here Wednesday night, killing at least 57 people, wounding more than 100 and emphatically ending Jordan's status as an oasis of relative calm in the Middle East."

This appeared in Haaretz: "A number of Israelis staying on Wednesday at the Radisson hotel were evacuated before the bombing by Jordanian security forces, apparently due to a specific security alert. They were escorted back to Israel by security personnel."
Later they retracted the article:
"There is no truth to reports that Israelis staying at the Radisson SAS hotel in Amman on Wednesday were evacuated by Jordanian security forces before the bombing that took place there."
This remains a murky situation. Did the Israeli government demand the retraction?
