IPS: "If Washington follows through on threats to slash aid to Mexico as punishment for its accession to the International Criminal Court (ICC), it risks further alienating key U.S. allies and drawing attention to its own increasingly shaky human rights record, say activists."
That is how the US engages in politics, by blackmail and brutal force.

Scotsman: "Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, has admitted that MI5 did not request a new law allowing terror suspects be detained without charge for up to 90 days - directly contradicting Tony Blair, the Prime Minister."
The Scotsman calls this a 'blunder', actually it is a cheat.

AlterNet: "We aren't going to hear much about the corporations that paid bribes in the Oil-for-Food scandal because Bush's family, friends and closest advisors are in it knee-deep, along with some Democrats.
Last week, the Independent Committee investigating the Oil-for-Food program (OFF) released its final report detailing how Saddam Hussein's regime skimmed just under two percent from the otherwise successful relief effort by charging kickbacks and 'inland transportation' fees to companies doing business with Iraq."

But what is worse, the habitual commercial hanky-panky or the death of children? Fact is that the US is only using this report to attack the UN, as they have forced it before to impose sanctions (recently Syria is targeted) that have severe repercussions.
IOL: "The Dublin born former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations has told a jury that he holds the UN responsible for killing many thousands of people, including children, in Iraq through the imposition of sanctions."
