BBC: "A body found in north-east London has been identified as that of a banker who was questioned by the FBI about the Enron fraud case."

ThinkProgress: "Rep. Steve King (R-IA) went on the House floor on Tuesday to discuss a fence that he designed for the southern boarder. (King constructed a model of the fence as he was speaking.) King's design features a wire electrified 'with the kind of current that would not kill somebody'. King noted that 'we do this with livestock all the time'. Watch it."

Newsinfo: Georgia is said to have planned the killing of 15 to 20 Georgian citizens in Southern Ossetia and by putting two bodies of Russian soldiers next to them to make it look like Russia was responsible. The aim would be for Georgia to create a pretext to invade Ossetia and take advantage of the G8 summit in St. Petersburg to get away with it without the risk of a Russian intervention.
Georgia wanted independence from Russia, but they won't grant it to Ossetia.

UPI: "A ministry report released Monday said testimonies from surgeons in Palestinian hospitals indicated that 'all 249 casualties inflicted by the Israeli war machine during the operation on Gaza which started on June 27 resulted from shrapnel of new and developed shells and explosives which cause amputation of limbs and burning of all the injured parts'."

The cause of the fall of the Dutch government recently was the lack of confidence in minister Verdonk's immigration policy by one of the cabinet parties. Nevertheless, PM Balkenende decided to continue the old cabinet without the participation of the dissident party to delay elections as long as possible. Ms Verdonk remained in office. That was an arrogant and undemocratic action. Scandal after scandal the government tried to cling to power.
Now a new report heralds a new scandal.
Expatica: "Hague insiders have speculated that Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner and Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk will face political problems when the report into the fatal fire at the Schiphol detention centre is published."
