Since yesterday the Yahoo newsgroups servers are acting up. Sent messages do not appear in the newsgroups or take a day to reach destination. Sometimes a page pops up that tells you your account was inactivated for not having logged in during several months when you had logged in as recently as yesterday.
It could be the heatwave that is causing these poblems at Yahoo's, but it is also possible Yahoo is deliberately limiting accounts and trying to get people to subscribe to their paid services.
The problem recurs regularly.

Yahoo: "US Ambassador John Bolton said there was no moral equivalence between the civilian casualties from the Israeli raids in Lebanon and those killed in Israel from 'malicious terrorist acts'."

So, in fact, Bolton subscribes to the theory that there are Uebermenschen (the Israelis) and Untermenschen (the Palestinians).

Yahoo: "President Bush personally blocked a Justice Department investigation of the anti-terror eavesdropping program that intercepts Americans' international calls and e-mails, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Tuesday."

In Nietszche's words, the Übermensch is the judge and avenger of his own law. Bush considers himself to be an Übermensch who is above any law.

4daagse: "With great regret we have decided last night to cancel the 90th Four Days Marches. We have done so after careful discussion with the local authorities, the medical services as well as police and fire department.
To our dismay, yesterday, on the first walking day, two of our walkers have died. We feel sympathy for the families of the deceased.
Because the temperatures rose steeply in the second half of the afternoon, hundreds of people became sick. Both walkers and spectators."

Are you wondering why it's so hot today?
"Soaring emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), an inevitable waste product of burning coal, oil and gas, are causing the atmosphere to retain more of the sun's heat and change the climate, with potentially catastrophic results.
Cars and lorries in five years' time will be pumping out 46.5 million tons of carbon a year."

Expatica: "The Netherlands is taking part in an EU-wide climate change awareness campaign urging the public to take the future of the planet into its own hands."

In fact, nothing at all is being done to climate change. Well yes, to increase the bad effects. Asking the public to be aware won't help. This is the age of selfishness and greed. People continue to buy their stinking cars and pollute the environment. What governments should do is tax pollution and prevent polluters from hitting the road.

Siphoning money off to private companies to change awareness is a waste of money. Governments are there to change laws and regulate our society. If there is something that needs regulating it's our environment. Nevertheless, the Dutch government continues to promote 'mobility', i.e. the sale of cars and the building of highways. The result is an increase in health problems and health care costs. And as long as it pays - the privatization of health care means profits - pollution is a boon to the neocon.
