Yahoo: "Hundreds of Israeli peace activists, joined by three foreign Nobel laureates, asked the nation's high court to rule against targeted assassinations carried out by the army in the Palestinian territories, saying the attacks were killing civilians."

ReviewJournal: "President Bush's wax likeness is taking a thumpin' these days at Madame Tussaud's celebrity waxworks in Las Vegas.
Bush's head suffered about $25,000 in damages when a Madame Tussaud's visitor attacked it the day before last week's elections.
Bush has needed repairs a number of times, mostly from having his nose pinched."

MotherJones: "While Donald Rumsfeld was Ronald Reagan's errand boy to Saddam Hussein in the mid-1980s, Robert Gates, the man named yesterday to succeed him as Secretary of Defense, was at the very heart of the American intelligence apparatus, actively planning and carrying out covert operations in Central America and the Middle East.

Gates, a 26-year CIA veteran and the agency's director between 1991 and 1993, has long been accused of undermining competent, unbiased intelligence analysis at the agency during his tenure, opening the way for its role in partisan politics, a reality brought to the fore again as the Bush administration made its flawed and phony case for war with Iraq."

TimesOnline: "The BBC is risking a new confrontation with Downing Street by launching an investigation into the death of David Kelly, the scientist at the centre of the storm over the 'sexed up' dossier on Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction.
The corporation is filming a programme about the alleged suspicious circumstances surrounding Kelly's death in an Oxfordshire wood.
It has told officials who carried out a post-mortem and toxicology tests on Kelly's body that it 'wants to quash conspiracy theories' about the death. But it has interviewed independent doctors who point to unexplained discrepancies in the results of Kelly's post-mortem. They suggest that neither the wound to his left wrist nor the drugs found in his body was sufficient to kill him.
The BBC has also spoken to legal experts who say the Hutton inquiry was a poor substitute for an inquest and that a coroner should now be asked to record a verdict on how Kelly died."

IHT: "The editor in chief and two reporters at one of Denmark's largest newspapers went on trial Monday for publishing classified intelligence reports about former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's weapons program.
In February and March 2004, Bjerre and Larsen wrote a series of articles based on leaked reports from the Danish Defense Intelligence Service. The reports said there was no evidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction during Saddam Hussein's rule - one of the main reasons behind the U.S.-led invasion in 2003."

AlterNet: "It appears that Chad Conrad Castagana, the man 'suspected of mailing more than a dozen threatening letters containing white powder to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Jon Stewart and other high-profile figures', was a conservative and a commenter on conservative blogs."

PRWatch: "The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) and Free Press today unveiled evidence that television stations continue to insert corporate-funded PR videos into their newscasts.
A new CMD report, titled 'Still Not the News: Stations Overwhelmingly Fail to Disclose VNRs', documents 46 TV stations that aired corporate video news releases, or VNRs - sponsored segments produced to mimic independent news reports.
The full report, including video footage of the VNRs and the TV newscasts that incorporated them, is now online.
The Center for Media and Democracy's follow-up research indicates that viewers are still routinely deceived by fake TV news."

As governments become increasingly rogue governments - hiding their acts of violence, corruption, and their efforts to control the media - it becomes ever more important to find and publish the truth.
