ComputerWorld: "About 1,500 unclassified e-mail users at the Pentagon had their service disrupted yesterday when a hacker infiltrated the e-mail system, forcing the accounts to be taken offline.
In a briefing today with reporters in Washington at the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates confirmed the incident and said that the users were disconnected from the system after the intrusion was discovered."

Well, well, where's homeland security? I bet it's an inside job. Or George Bush trying out his new playstation or xbox.

TheCarpetbaggerReport: "We know that when it comes to protecting national security secrets, Dick Cheney and his office are hardly diligent. What's less clear is how, exactly, the Office of the Vice President has gotten away with so much of this, given that executive orders are in place that govern White House conduct and which prohibit the very things Cheney has done.

Three years ago, a fairly obscure federal office responsible for enforcing these orders sought answers about the OVP's policies. What happened? Well, as House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman explained, it's a funny story.

The Oversight Committee has learned that over the objections of the National Archives, Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an 'entity within the executive branch'."

FAS: "The Office of Vice President Dick Cheney proposed to abolish the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), the executive branch organization that oversees the national security classification system, after its Director insisted that the Vice President comply with reporting requirements that apply to all executive branch entities."

Guerrillanews: "The Israeli High Court issued a ruling that allows the Shabak, which is the Internal General Security Service of Israel, to torture with impunity. The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (PCATI) published a report condemning the practice of torture that is 'derived from the darkness of the Middle Ages', and the Israeli High Court which issued the ruling. The Shabak security agency said in response that its interrogations were 'conducted according to the law. All detainees have the right to file a complaint with the courts or the Red Cross and these will be examined by the Ombudsman of Interogees' Complaints'."

Salon: "There is growing evidence of high-level coordination between the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. military in developing abusive interrogation techniques used on terrorist suspects."

ICH: "Immigration attorneys from Cohen & Grigsby explains how they assist employers in running classified ads with the goal of NOT finding any qualified applicants, and the steps they go through to disqualify even the most qualified Americans in order to secure green cards for H-1b workers. See what Bush and Congress really mean by a 'shortage of skilled U.S. workers'. Microsoft, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, and thousands of other companies are running fake ads in Sunday newspapers across the country each week."

It's the same story in Europe. They tell us there is a shortage of workers and therefore they have to import workers from Poland and the new EU members in eastern Europe. They call it a 'shortage', but in fact the employers don't pay enough to earn a decent living. They simply want cheap labour, which they get from poor countries.
When managers get exorbitant salaries the reasoning is always: we have to raise their wages because otherwise we wouldn't find qualified managers. Nonsense! Why not apply the same reasoning to the working class and up their wages?

NewStatesman: "I am about to say the one thing guaranteed to offend the sensibilities of the liberal left intelligentsia in Britain: I like Salman Rushdie's novels. There I've said it. I do not find them hard to finish and, at his best, he is the finest novelist of his generation. For too long, critics of Rushdie have hidden behind the myth that Rushdie writes impenetrable prose. For me, The Satanic Verses is a work of geniune genius, which also provides a useful primer on the origins of Islam. Shame, his novel about the politics of Pakistan, is even better in my opinion. I must say I was surprised to find Ruth Dudley Edwards trotting out these tired cliches in the Dail Mail.

The attacks on Rushdie from self-appointed representatives of the Muslim community this time around have been utterly predictable. But it has been useful to flush out the miserable Lord Ahmed for the out-of-touch Islamist he really is. It was, therefore, a pleasant surprise to see Inayat Bunglawala of the Muslim Council of Britain recanting on Comment is Free over his previous wish to see Rushdie dead. I only hope he can bring himself to do the same over the MBC's shameful position on Holocaust Memorial Day, homosexuality and declarations of the apostasy of Muslim sects of which it doesn't approve."

There is, indeed, a problem when several cultures collide. And denying the problem is counterproductive. We have to realize that the entrance of foreigners in Europe does have its negative side that must be tackled.
This is not only the case with Islamic people, but also with Polish people, Rumanians, Surinammers and the like. And homosexuality is one of those things these immigrants usually have a problem with. They will have to learn that if they want tolerance from the local population they will have to be tolerant toward them as well. In Holland a new effort is being made to reach the foreign population as violence at homes of immigrants is very high.
And the incidence of cases of violence is increasing simply because the leftists generally refuse to face the facts and therefore no solutions are brought forward, until the situation gets out of hand. Instead of tackling the problem many deny there is a problem, which can only result in increased tensions and racism. Tolerance is not laissez-faire.
