WashingtonPost: "The CIA will declassify hundreds of pages of long-secret records detailing some of the intelligence agency's worst illegal abuses - the so-called 'family jewels' documenting a quarter-century of overseas assassination attempts, domestic spying, kidnapping and infiltration of leftist groups from the 1950s to the 1970s, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden said yesterday."

CommonDreams: "The Central Intelligence Agency violated its charter for 25 years until revelations of illegal wiretapping, domestic surveillance, assassination plots, and human experimentation led to official investigations and reforms in the 1970s, according to declassified documents posted today on the Web by the National Security Archive at George Washington University."

But rest assured that the worst secrets will remain secret. I would gladly see the documents relating to 9/11 and how come all authorities collectively seem to have done nothing to prevent this catastrophe.

USAToday: "The federal government recorded a $1.3 trillion loss last year - far more than the official $248 billion deficit - when corporate-style accounting standards are used, a USA TODAY analysis shows.
The loss reflects a continued deterioration in the finances of Social Security and government retirement programs for civil servants and military personnel. The loss - equal to $11,434 per household - is more than Americans paid in income taxes in 2006."

Guardian: "A US air strike in southern Afghanistan has killed up to 25 civilians, a local police chief said today.
The victims included women, children and a cleric as well as 20 suspected Taliban militants, according to Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, the Helmand province police chief."

Not a very Christian thing to do. Dutch PM Balkenende will go through the usual crocodile tears and then continue to cheat the Dutch population and talk about 'reconstruction'.

BigNews: "Tony Blair will soon be announcing that he is embracing the Catholic Church after meeting with Pope Benedict XVI on June 23."

That would be a major spin to his political curriculum. But I doubt whether the Catholic Church would applaud having a war criminal in its midst. I am sure there will be Catholics who will leave the Church for that reason.
But it makes sense from Blair's point of view. He could go to confession and be whitewashed of all his sins. And he won't address the pope as 'sir' like Bush did.
