The role primary involves innovation and design specialized fixturing and tooling along with semi-automated equipment related to product manufacturing, handling, inspection, assembly, and packaging. Prepare specifications, engineering drawings, place orders, and coordinate procurement and installation of equipment and equipment alterations, along with coordination for extensive equipment repairs and other technical tasks from outside firms and machine tooling shops. Initiate and coordinate cost estimates, capacity analysis, product flow analysis, and quality and waste studies for capital expenditure requests and prepare manufacturing standard operating procedure documentation. Maintain current knowledge of new methods, equipment, product specifications, waste, costs, etc., and apply toward assigned projects and development of new methods. Participate on teams to start up new product lines validation of changes and expansion of existing lines. Complete projects within established cost and time targets.Self motivator with latitude for decision making and action with only limited input from coordinator. Make recommendations to management regarding strategies, new concepts, etc., for inclusion into budget planning. Comply with safety, environmental codes, regulatory requirements, works under and follows GMPs for medical device manufacturing. Provide all on-site mechanical and some limited electrical trouble-shooting, machine set-up, assist with machine changeovers for production, provide associate training to others, and assist with general machine troubleshooting and repairs. Responsible for meeting completion dates, costs, productivity goals and overall project progress from concept to completion. Individual projects can involve capital expenditures exceeding $100,000 and savings of similar magnitude. May be assigned to three to five+ projects along with assignments to support manufacturing.
