(US-Tennessee-Memphis) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders. The hospital’s mission is to find cures for children with catastrophic diseases through treatment and research. St. Jude Hospital is dedicated to providing unsurpassed patient care and to advancing the health of children through biomedical research. Currently, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has an opening for a Clinical Pharmacokinetics Laboratory Director, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This position will be responsible for the accurate and efficient performance of work assignments in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics (PK) Laboratory, including quality control, competency assessment, proficiency testing, regulatory requirements, and instrument maintenance. Oversees all work performed and maintains extensive knowledge and expertise in current and emerging therapeutic drug monitoring techniques. Directs the performance of laboratory tests in the Clinical Pharmacokinetics (PK) Laboratory. Oversees the successful migration of specific laboratory tests from protocol-only research applications to clinical applications. Assists departmental faculty in assay implementation and validation functions of the Cancer Center PK Shared Resource, Translational Trials Unit Core Pharmacology Lab, and the Solid Tumor Pharmacology Core Lab. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Clinical PK Laboratory. Ensures performance of all quality management procedures as required by the hospital and the accrediting/licensing, funding and regulatory agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. The successful candidate will have the following requirements: • A Doctoral-level (PhD) degree in a related field is required. • Formal training in clinical pharmacokinetics is preferred. • Five (5) years of laboratory experience is required of which at least two (2) years must be in therapeutic drug monitoring or a related discipline. • Experience in molecular biological techniques preferred. • Current licensure as a Medical Laboratory Director in the state of Tennessee, or eligible, is required. (US-District of Columbia) The Protein Information Resource (PIR) is seeking a Research Scientist at the levels of Post-doctoral Research Associate, Research Instructor, or Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will participate in the development of UniProt, a central resource of protein sequence and function that unifies PIR, Swiss-Prot and TrEMBL databases. PIR is a public resource of protein informatics, providing functionally annotated and value-added protein databases as well as bioinformatics tools to support genomic and proteomic research and knowledge discovery. * Primary Responsibilities: Developing a Rule-based system for the annotation of functional features (active sites, functional sites, etc) in UniProt database using protein family and structure information * Curating protein families, multiple sequence alignments, and functional rules involving both literature-based and computational approaches * Assisting the development of a web environment for Rule curation * Requirements: Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, or related disciplines * General knowledge and experience in computational biology/bioinformatics * In-depth knowledge and experience in protein structure and sequence analysis, and in protein databases * Experience in computer programming in the web/unix environment * Ability to work independently with a good publication record * Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills * Team player with good communication skills
