Bruchmühlbach-Miesau On A Cold, Cold Night

Having nothing better to do with myself tonight, I decided to take a walk around the ol' Gerrman neighborhood.  I've seen lots of people do that around here, walking at all hours of the day and night, and so I felt it was finally time to see what the fuss was all about.  Of course being the idiot I am, I picked a night when it is below freezing out, but after wrapping myself up nice and tight, I ventured out into the dark.

My street, Herbstwiesen, was deserted.  Guess this was the night that my neighbors said, "Screw the walking around.  Let the new American guy do it."  But that didn't deter me.  Making sure I left the porch light on, I headed down the road.

There really wasn't much to see.  Seems most people had called it a night.  Once I got onto the main road going through Miesau, a few cars whizzed by, but that was about it.  I even hoofed it on over to an Italian restuarant close by, hoping that's where the action would be.  But no.  It was nearly empty.

There weren't even many good Christmas decorations up.  Mainly I saw lots of fake candles in the windows, just like the one in this picture.  I lost count of how many of those I saw.  Maybe they were on sale.

Mostly I saw lots of empty streets.  A few people walked by, but none of them said anything to me, and seemed wary of my camera.  I didn't risk trying to take a picture of them.  If they were crazy enough to be walking around on a frigid Saturday night in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, then they must have at least a few issues (and no, let's not delve into my reasons for being out there).

So instead I amused myself by taking pictures of cars going by and shots of myself.  Yes, that really is me in front of a wall.  Contain your jealousy, please.  One day you, too, might be lucky enough to stand in front of that wall.  Miracles do happen, you know.

But sadly, the thrill of taking photos of cars and of yourself in front of walls isn't what it used to be, so eventually I found my way back to my street, and made it back into the warmth of my house.

Now for those of you back in the states who have yet to have your Saturday night, I challenge you to beat the sheer excitement of mine.  Photos must be provided as proof.
