Twelve Angry Ninth Graders

This year I've finally hit upon something that my ninth graders like:  Twelve Angry Men.  That play had always been a hit with my tenth grade classes back in the states, but I still wasn't sure if my current students would get into it in the same way.  Up until now, my ninth graders haven't really liked anything I've tried to do with them.

But they've gotten into this play.  At least for the most part they have.  My second period has especially enjoyed playing their parts, getting into the yelling and action of this play.  To be honest, if this play had failed to hold their attention, I'd have just given up.  Luckily they enjoy it and I enjoy helping them bring it to life.

Here are some of the pictures I took of them performing Act Two of Twelve Angry Men today:

What you'll probably notice first is that the room looks different in various shots.  That's because I don't have a room to call my own and have to move around during the course of the day.  My three ninth grade classes are taught in three different rooms.  Yes, that does making teaching these kids a bit more difficult, but I'm trying to manage.

Of course after looking over those photos when I got home, they made me want to look at pictures from past years' versions of Twelve Angry Men.  It was fun to see some of these classic shots:

...and so forth.  Made me feel awfully homesick looking through all those pictures, but also made me feel so grateful to have those photos and to be able to remember all those moments back in room G-6 of Eagle Pass High School.

If you were one of my students from the past few years and want to relive a few memories, too, here are the links:
