Lost In London

Well, the last several days were fun.  Loads of fun, actually.  To wrap-up Marcela’s visit to Germany before she had to return to the college life in Grinnell, I took some time off from work and we went to London to spend the last few days of her Spring Break seeing the sights and trying not to be too overtly American.  It didn't help that right before we left Germany, Britain announced it was raising its security alert for the country.  But tightened security aside, and although this was my fifth trip to London in the past year, we still managed to find new things that I hadn’t done there before like:

We also took in the Tate Modern, the National Gallery, The Woman in Black, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, the Globe Theatre, and a whole bunch more in-between.  Exhausting, but fun.

Strange but true highlights:

Oh, if you plan on staying in London, I whole-heartedly recommend staying at Two Hyde Park Square.  You essentially rent an apartment there, complete with living room, dining area, kitchen, and bedroom, and not just a tiny hotel room like most London places.  And the rates are comparable to other places in the area.  Plus it is located in a very nice neighborhood just north of Hyde Park in the Marble Arch area.  Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a place to stay with some extra room.

So if you’re interested in seeing some of the photos from the trip, just check out the gallery I made for it.  It also includes pictures from the rest of Marcela’s stay in Germany.  Not all the pics.  I think we took over 500 total.  Just some of the more interesting ones (at least to me).
