On Page 23
Over at Caterina.net, the rest of the internet has been ordered to do the following:
1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 23. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
I'm not one who usually falls for these Friday Five sorts of things. In most cases, they seem to be for people too lazy, or too boring, to come up with their own ideas for something to write about. But in this case I thought the premise was just interesting enough to play cow for the day and go along with the rest of the herd. I've grabbed the closest book to me, flipped over to page 23, counted down five sentences, and found this sentence:
"Once again, this is akin to conducting STD surveys in convents."
- Robert Young Pelton, The World's Most Dangerous Places
I'm almost embarassed. Then again if I'd gone with the next closest book, I definitely would have been embarassed.
If you'd like, you can leave your sentence in the comments below.
