NHS Induction Abroad
So tonight was the induction ceremony for the Baumholder American High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Quite different from the one I held last year back in Eagle Pass. For one, there were only eight inductees tonight. Small school equals a small pool of applicants, but that's not a bad thing. The NHS is supposed to be for the best students, and sometimes that idea can be lost if you're just one of seventy "best" students.
We held the induction at the Zum Stern restuarant in Baumholder. It's a place I'd never been to before, but I was told last year's induction had been held there, and who am I to ruin a perfectly good tradition? I was happy with the place tonight, everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, and I don't see any reason not to hold it there again next time around.
After dinner, Jill, our president, got the ceremony started. Her and the other officers, like Patrick, explained to the inductees the meaning behind the four components of the National Honor Society. Then the new members came forward, lit a candle, and then recited the pledge to the society.
So overall, I felt it was a successful event and a nice way to put smiles on the faces of families in a place where sometimes it can be hard to find enough to smile about.
