Best $5.84 I Ever Spent
If you have a cat, you probably already know that catnip, scratching posts, balls with little bells in them, and feathers on the end of a string are a huge waste of money. Those things will not hold a typical cat's attention for long. In fact, you'll be lucky if you get a day's worth out of them. And trust me, the market for used feathers on a string is pretty small. Even on eBay. I've tried.
But what never seems to grow old for a cat is chasing the little red dot made by a laser pointer. I've had Franklin chasing these things for years, and he never seems to grow tired of it. Sure he grows literally tired, sometimes with his tongue hanging out and his sides heaving like Roseann Barr after checking the mail, but as soon as he has his wind back, he's after that dot again. That dot that's always. Just. Out. Of. His. Reach.
Don't believe me? Here's a short clip of him in action tonight (best if you let the whole thing load before watching). Doesn't he look like he's having the time of his sad-bordering-on-pathetic life? Yeah, I thought so, too.
So, have a cat? Invest in a laser pointer. Doesn't even have to be one that can be seen from the moon. Just a simple one will take your cat's life from 0 to 60 at the speed of light.
(Might work with dogs, too. Or hamsters. Probably not fish.)
