A New Low

Let's recap a few things that have happened the last several weeks:

  • Car breaks down about eight miles from home.  Have to walk those eight miles home.
  • Same car gets broken into last week.  Have to scoop snow and shards of glass out of my front seat.
  • I get to roll around on the floor of my classroom trying to breakup a fight between two of my students today.

That last one was surreal (not that the other two didn't have their wtf? moments) in that whilst I was on the ground trying to wrestle these two fineyoungandoutstandinggentlemen apart, I couldn't help but think, "Why me?"

Some other students in the class remarked later that they saw me grinning while the whole Wrestlemania thing was happening.  Yeah, because in a moment like that, I somehow find the humor in it all.  Here I am at nine o'clock on a Thursday morning, a morning that was going along just fine, but has since gone to hell, trying to pry one guy who is growling like a bear/wrestler/Godzilla off another guy who has lost all powers of speech except for the word that loosely means you like to have intimate relations with women who have born children.

Yep, it was funny, yet not funny at the same time.

Not funny in that my right hand took a beating.  Not funny in that the bear/wrestler/Godzilla punched me in the chest while yelling for me to get off him because I apparently like to have intimate relations with women who have born children.  Not funny in that both got suspended for multiple days.  Not funny in that both have parents who are still probably trying to figure out how their fineyoungandoutstandinggentleman could end up needing two teachers to pull him away from another fineyoungandoutstandinggentleman.  Not funny in that instead of being known as a teacher who is really trying to educate these kids and give them a chance at going into something beyond Burger King after high school, I get to be known as the teacher who rolled around on the floor while being called a person who enjoys having intimate relations with women who have born children.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
