This article on Wired.com details the potential blogging has if you take it to its logical conclusion. OhmyNews is an online newspaper based in South Korea where the journalists are members of the public. Almost 30,000 people have registered as reporters and they are paid from nothing to $16 depending on how the story is ranked.

OhmyNews has been in existence for four years now and is one of the most influential news organisations in South Korea. It is credited with getting current president Roh elected and its reporters are regularly given access to government ministers.

Maybe someone should try something similar in Ireland.

This virus turned up in my mailox this morning. Good thing I was using a Mac. I scanned it immediately but Sophos didn't recognise it. Until, that is, I looked through my mailbox and found they had sent me a warning with a link to an update file which I promptly downloaded and installed. I rescanned and hey presto, full of virussy badness.
