OK... discussion/bullitin boards & blogs.
Now, why can't you have a blog which sets a task/spark (Just finished Gilly Salmon's "E-Tivities" - Wow! - Am definitely going to be talking about 'Sparks' for now!) and which links to a spanking new discussion board for that task... or even better an aggregator of individual responses to that task to cope with different learning styles... why not both!
As I write this it's becoming obvious that despite (few) limitations the possibilities (many!) of the 'Comment' section of Radio could be pretty darn useful here...
QUESTION INTO SPACE: Has anyone ever tried e-moderating / e-tivities using a weblog as the LMS?
It's just that I've seen a few teachers' blogs but they seem to be mostly 1-way (not that there's anything wrong with that) and, of-course, the basis of e-tivities is constructive discussion, sharing etc. Are there any teachers out there using their blog as a discussion board?
Now, if you can store content (multimedia etc.) on your blog & allow users to create their own blogs from it add a couple of email / chat tools, a bit of a gateway & admin system and hey... who needs to spend $ms on LMSs???
I mean, what are the advantages of an LMS like Blackboard or WebCT over what I'm describing above? What are the disadvantages?
