Web Logs as Web Site.
...Everything funneled through one person who was ultimately responsible for all content. It's a system that really inhibits content production in any meaningful form. But in the grand vision I'm laying out, that changes as production and publication is distributed throughout the school community using Web logs. I've got 75% of it worked out in my brain including the build in of RSS and new templates for various audiences. (Attention: consultants stay tuned.) I've shown the superintendent and others the Kern site, Delano, Basehor-Linwood High School, and others. Ironically, Bill McCoy of School Blog or Not fame is back with some new ideas (most of which are way over my head, but he's trying to help me get it.)

That is a seriously good point, whicle content is 'funneled through one person' can you expect creativity, innovation & originality? Will people be motivated? It's a bit like the managfer who has to check / approve everything her employees do... rather than trusting their skills. Granted, there need to be guidelines... but people know that... people operate within guidelines (not selling company secrets, not spitting on the carpert :o) etc.) everyday!
Not only would a school website built on blogs be a whole lot more interesting, sticky and effective at communicating what the school's about but it could also motivate staff & open up to true webpublishing rather than the narrowness of these 'funneled' static brouchure-wares!
