Subscription Music: Rafael Riqueni - Alcazar De Cristal Mood: bright During the last few days I have wandered away from the subscription idea and towards this:We should sell downloads in chunks. For example: for $10 you get the right to download any 12 tracks. You get to go into the vault and pick 12 items, whether they are rough mixes, live recordings or album versions, whether they are each a couple of minutes long or 10 minutes long. This takes the pressure off of me for providing x amount of new material per month. Now I have to talk to some techies and find out whether this is doable and how easy or hard it would be to make it happen.

U R the company U keep Music: La Semana work mixes Mood: effervescent Something is going on with Higher Octave that they haven't bothered to tell...In the last week I received not one but two calls from other record companies inquiring into my future and interested in representing my music in stores. Wolves circling around the Higher Octave campfire. Maybe the fire is getting low and dim?Well, these are good wolves, great wolves even. Both of these record companies who have called in the past week have a catalog I adore, represent great multi-cultural music, and both have been ground-breaking in that respect. It makes me think: U R the company U keep . I have known Higher Octave since 1990 and I can't remember EVER asking them for a CD by another artist on their label!! Isn't that amazing? Well, I don't like Higher Octave's catalog, and I simply do not like any of the music their artists produce. Epic Records was different. As they are part of Sony Music they have access to a huge legacy.......Now, regarding the two labels who have called this past week: I have paid good money to buy their CDs in the past, because they make great music! Why didn't I see this before? Rule #763: If you are considering any sort of relationship with a record company, make sure you like what they create, because they ARE the company they keep!
