The Vernal Utah Temple
November 2, 1997 was the date of the Vernal Utah Temple dedication by Gordon B. Hinckley. Gosh, I didn't even know there was a Vernal temple, but sure enough, here it is. Frankly, I was only dimly aware there was a Vernal until now. Seems like the Vernal Temple must be related somehow to the Autumnal Temple.

It's fast Sunday again. I enjoyed my slice of French toast (Freedom toast?) covered in butter syrup. Anyway, I found a short and interesting article on Jewish fasting. Samples: By 10 a.m., I could stand it no longer. It was already three hours after my breakfast time. Sound familiar? And this: The punishment for disregarding the prohibition against eating or drinking on Yom Kippur is "Karet," premature death at the hand of God. The God of the Jews takes fasting a little more seriously than the God of the Mormons, it seems.
