Coming soon: LDS establishing country Web sites. Signs of Internet apostasy! The One True Website is morphing into rival National Websites. See, for example, the Switzerland Website (Willkommen! Have a chocolate.) and the German Website (the Ultimate Worship Machine). All LDS country websites can be accessed from the Mother of All Websites under the "Country Sites" link at the upper right corner.
. . . I suppose when the conflict of competing websites becomes a cacaphony of confusion, God will call a young, faithful Webmaster to restore the One True Website. Until then, Mormons will have to deal with Internet diversity.

Gay Anglican Bishop's ordination continues to make big waves in the worldwide Anglican Union. Click here for a Christianity Today article quoting hand-wringing conservative prelates. Samples: The divisions that are arising are a matter of deep regret said the Archbishop of Canterbury. A state of impaired communion now exists says the Primate of Nigeria, who adds that he and his peers from the Global South cannot and will not recognize the office or ministry of Canon Gene Robinson as a bishop. Funny how the Africans are the most intolerant on this issue. Click here for an evangelical editorial rant on the Episcopalian ordination.
Mr. and Mr. Smith Go to Washington
Washington DC's Episcopal Bishop plans to authorize blessings of gay unions, reported here on the Christianity Today weblog. Perhaps two guys named Texas and Lawrence can arrange for a union on the steps of the Supreme Court building. Or maybe Bowers and Hardwick are still out there somewhere.

While polishing off a Trader Joe's beef enchilada with organic nacho chips and pineapple salsa, I watched a fascinating PBS Nova episode on String Theory, also known as "M theory," presented in fabulous detail at this website. Once upon a time, physics was a science. Now it is drifting off into philosophy and mysticism, telling us the real world is composed of vibrating microstrings tied to cosmic membranes floating through 11-dimensional space. It would seem physical theory has become as speculative (unverifiable) and as mysterious (fundamentally inexplicable) as theology has always been.
