Microsoft evangelist Robert Scoble says Trade Shows are Boring after his trips to the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) and MacWorld. I read his reports, and those of several others, from CES and felt a little jealous. We used to have trade shows with a lot of buzz and energy in manufacturing controls and software. There were new products, alliances formed, conferences where you could actually learn something.
Now we have two very small trade shows with few announcements and a whole host of "MacWorlds". This year I'll be at single vendor (with some partners) for ABB, Emerson Process, Honeywell, Invensys, National Instruments and Rockwell. There will probably be more.
If you don't hit the link--he was bored because he saw all the product announcements before CES, and MacWorld was so small compared to CES.
