Happy Groundhog Day

In the American equivalent of the annual rites at Stonehenge, thousands of chanting, bleary-eyed spectators braved sub-freezing Pennsylvania weather today to watch as the world's most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow, thus condemning the nation to six more weeks of winter.

Residents of the frozen Northeast are resigning themselves to spending as much of the next six weeks as possible indoors, endlessly watching Bill Murray movies and trying to win at Scrabble by spelling Punxsutawney.
