Miles Behind Polish jazz trumpeter Thomaz Stanko (pronounced like the past tense of Shtinko) was profiled today on NPR's program "Day to Day." Stanko was inspired to become a musician by the recordings of Miles Davis, which he first heard in the 1960s in his native Poland.  He says that the jazz legend "was my only teacher, not only for music but for life." This means that any fan who approaches Stanko for an autograph can expect to be told "Get the fuck outta my face" in a harsh, raspy voice. 3:14:15 PM
