Check out this site in conjunction with a video game exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. Here is a quote:
Forty years ago, video games didn’t exist. The Nintendo Company made playing cards, Sony made black and white televisions and Sega imported instant photo booths. Families played games by rolling dice or dealing cards. Then Pong bounced across the country in 1972… it was love at first sight.
