Playing Hookie Yesterday I took the afternoon off. It was gloriously sunny and I just didn't see the point of sitting in the office for the rest of the day. So I came home and read one book (one of Jamie's for school - I have to keep ahead of him so I can help him with his homework) and started another one (Guy Vanderhaeghe's 'The Last Crossing' - it's been on my reading list for months). I also made scalloped potatoes and ham for dinner, picked up Jamie, listened to some classical music at full volume and just generally had a relaxing time. It was a rare occurrence and it felt delicious.
Dimes from Heaven? Everywhere I turn lately, I'm finding dimes. Only dimes. I am usually very lucky about finding pennies in my travels, but I've rarely found dimes until now. I can't quite figure out the significance. I recently read about a women who started finding 11 cents all over her house....it was always a dime and a penny together. She mentioned this to her sister and was floored to find out the same thing was happening to her. They decided it must be their late Aunt Evelyn saying hello....Evelyn - eleven. I can't claim to have any former relatives with names similar to 'dime' or 'ten'. In any event, I'm going to start putting the money in a special jar....I'm sure I'll find a good use for it.
My grammie was incredibly lucky at finding four-leaf clovers. She'd go for a short walk and come back with several four- and even five-leaf specimens. She used to tuck them between the pages of her bible...I bet if I looked they'd still be there.
