Impressive
I somewhat trepidatiously told Iris she could have a party last night. It was her friend's birthday and she wanted to mark it by having some friends over. There were only supposed to be about 15 or 20 people here, but, as inevitably happens in a small town where news spreads like wildfire that someone is having a bash, lots of other people showed up.
However Iris was impressive in how she handled people. A truckload of rowdy guys arrived at around one and she very quickly gave them the boot. That's not always easy to do, and I was ready to step in if necessary (I told Iris I would stay home but remain in my room unless there was trouble) but she didn't need any help at all. Nothing was damaged, the noise level was very low considering the number of people here, and when I came downstairs at 3:30, she had managed to get everyone out of the house and had it all cleaned up.
I sat around with Iris, Alan and two of his friends for a bit and chatted, and I realized how much I was enjoying being with these four almost adults. Wow - how far things have come in a couple of years. Two years ago I was ready to run away from home!!
