Scooby-doo Some of you have already heard this story, but for those of you who haven't it's worth telling. Alan arrived home early this morning. While he was beat and we didn't have a lot of time to swap stories, here's one he told me.
He, his Mexican friend Lucas and Lucas' dad Ricardo were at a soccer game at Aztec Stadium in Mexico City (see photo below). It's one of the largest stadiums in the world - seats more than 100,000 people.

Because of Alan's wild red hair and red beard, he was getting lots of attention from the cameras. They kept focussing on him, showing him several times on the big screen.
Every time he was shown on the screen, the crowd would start to chant. Alan didn't make the connection. He thought they were just chanting for the footie players. Nor could he make out what they were chanting: Scooby-doo, and another word that when translated into English means 'boiler'. This one I don't get - Peter, maybe Luz can help me out here. What does that mean?
Anyway, Lucas and Ricardo were silently killing themselves laughing. They decided not to tell Alan what was going on, in case he got upset.
After the game, there were hoardes of people of course streaming out of the stands. However, everyone streered clear of Alan by about two feet in all directions. I guess they were afraid he'd punch them out because of the chanting. He noticed that something looked odd, but still didn't clue in. He roared with laughter when his friends finally filled him in on the joke.
Around our house, he will from this day forward be called Scooby-doo!
