If you live in a gated community on Hilton Head Island and a hurricane hits the island and destroys the infrastructure within your gated community or plantation, you cannot expect any financial assistance from the town in rebuilding the infrastructure. Too often we overlook the fact that approximately two-thirds of the land mass and two-thirds of the residents on Hilton Head Island are within gated communities.
