Escalating repair costs, repeated damage and frequent malfunctions have led one gated community west of Boynton Beach to do the unthinkable: Open the gates.

Richard Mahoney is upset that his condo fee could go up next summer thanks to the town's new mandate for all condominium complexes with a swimming pool to hire a lifeguard.

Residents in the tiny Oak Knoll community are complaining that their condo association and its five-member Board of Managers have imposed rules that carry an "anti-kid" message.
