Today is my last day of my vacation. I played hooky today, but
mainly to see a good friend off who was in for the holiday. We were out
late last night enjoying the revelry in Federal Hill that occurs after
a Ravens game. (Brief aside: DaBrettman, A Fool's Fate, seadragon,
and J were at the game. I had a chance to go, but I turned it
down due to laziness, annoyance at the Ravens, and an overwhelming
desire to not get rained on. Another reason I did not go was that
I did not want to start drinking promptly at 9 AM while enjoying the
fun that is tailgating. I know I would have had a nice time, but
I would be in no shape. If everyone wants to do this next year, I
will invite all to partake in the beauty that is "The Tailgate.")
This morning, we got together for breakfast at Spoons. I love
that place, but it is always too damn crowded when I have the time to
go (and am not playing hooky). I had a great time catching up
with him, as he is now in Georgia pursuing his doctorate. He will
always be a good friend, as when I moved back to Baltimore we spent a
lot of time together. I was from here, but moving back after grad
school in College Park, and he had moved here from Boston after
teaching there after we both graduated. Many a good times were
had when we would get together for chats, beers, festivals, and walks
to the Barnes & Noble.
I am going to get ready for the rest of the work week today. Do
some ironing, make my lunch later for tomorrow, and tidy up my
kitchen. I am off to the gym for now to begin the detoxification
from the previous week of drinking and other revelry.

I am glad to see 2004 behind me, as it was not necessarily my best
year. That said, as others have done, I am making some
resolutions for the New Year. I, of course, have not started in
earnest on them, but I am going to beginning today.
For the year 2005, I resolve to do the following:
- Make a large dent in getting rid of my debt.
- Become gainfully employed at a new job.
- Begin the process of moving into a house as opposed to renting an apartment.
- Maintain my current friendships, and meet new and interesting people.
- Read some more books.
- Reverse my current slide towards procrastination and get things done.
