As I type, I'm in Sarasota, Florida sitting out on Peter's parent's pool patio listening to sub-tropical dusk sounds: crickets, birds, frogs, etc. It's still quite warm (85 degrees) and humid. But heavenly - the kind of climate that we Alaskans don't experience unless we travel south.

Now what would be totally perfect is if there were a wireless network nearby. But alas, there is not. So I'll do all my blogging off line and then upstream when I dial in.

A Sunday in the Park with Friends
Yesterday was a glorious Spring New York day: sunny, 75 degrees, flowers, joggers, bicyclists, school children, etc.

Peter and I had lunch with Sandi and Jane at The Boathouse - an upscale lakeside restaurant in Central Park. Apres deujuner, we walked through the park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to view the Manet - Valezquez exhibition.

Al fresco dining with the Slat Rat and Ski Boy.

A Central Park reptilian denizen.

A pink carpet of flowers. All of these trees in Central Park had pink carpets. We agreed that conditions had to be perfectly serendepitous to view this phenomenom: be there on exactly the right day and hope that the wind doesn't come up.

The very fetching Ski Boy on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Their roof is delightful - it overlooks Central Park and the New York Sky Line. Absolutely best place in the world to be on a sunny, 75 degree Wednesday afternoon.

Me, standing next to one of the Roy Lichtenstein sculptures on the Met Roof. His works for this installation are wonderfully whimsical. I wouldn't mind having small reproductions of the pieces. They'd look great on my desk at work.
