Of all the people from the 80's I never expected Adam Ant to snap. Apparently he really did. I f I decide to do the radio show, he'll be top of the list for an interview!

The Coca-Cola Show! - Advertisers Want to Create Their Own TV Programs The trend is certain to add clutter to the already heavily commercialized airwaves, embedding more marketing messages within television shows through product placement and other subtle, and not-so-subtle, brand identifications. A staged, unscripted program created by Ford Motor Co. to showcase its line of sport-utility vehicles, titled "No Boundaries," is set to premiere in March on the WB network. Ford also is developing other series, one of which would feature the Thunderbird. [via Plastic]

I've been waiting for this to happen. Its the other shoe dropping. This is what made MTV lame. It is a gross underestimation of the intelligence of the audience.

Adam Ant detained in hospital. On Monday evening police found the 47-year-old singer in the Camden Town area of north London after calls from the public regarding concerns for his safety.

He was taken to the nearby Royal Free Hospital and "sectioned" - legally confined - under the 1983 Mental Health Act.

I've been working with John Robb from Userland for the past few months on banging around some business models for Radio.

He picked up on my posts about an offer I received to host a national radio show in Holland. Yesterday he sent me a note about combining the two. Spot on JRo! Imagine being part of a radio network that connects to a radio network (of the broadcast variety). With "RSS "and everyone's favourite aggregator the radio show could quickly become a traditional media outlet for the stories and fun we have with our blog networks. I would function as the API. Yeah baby, xml-rpc me and do it hard :)

Ofcourse the flow would work both ways, since I would have guests on the show and we have the added interactive element of the telephone. The ultimate feedback loop.

Its time to re-invent broadcast radio, and give the listeners an even stronger voice with their own "radio transmitter". The possibilities boggle the mind. I almost don't even care about the actual ($$) offer they made me. Ok, just a bit then :)

I hope to have more info this week.

James Bennet: "All of these developments suggest a permanent change is in the offing. Bloggers and their readers may form only a small percentage of the Anglosphere populations, but they are typical "early adopters" -- trendsetters and opinion leaders. The crossover between the blogs and mainstream media means that ideas, opinions and identified errors from blogspace will be reflected more and more in mainstream media, to the extent that they remain distinct things". [BitStream] Amen brother, the times they are a changin'.

I just looked at the code for the manila blogger bridge for Radio.

During the beta process I snuck in my own bits of code to mirror posts to my manila site, but this tool is slick. It also handles your edits. Very sweet. I'll bet it only takes a day or two before it does multiple mirroring, category routing and headlines :) If not, then I'll tackle it this weekend.

It wouldn't have been reported on the local news if a similar event happened in the Linux or Mac camps, but a domain name server problem with Microsoft's Windows Update Web site has, for some reason, hit the radar of the mainstream media... [more]
