Drivel:  How will it all converge?  I spent a few hours very early this morning just catching up on the past couple weeks of Web Services, Grid, and high performance computing announcements.  It is all just about the same, with a few different twists depending on your perspective and the audience.  It is all cross network computing.  The only difference is scale and scope, which means a lot, I know.  However, good programming, networking, and systems administration is just good programming, networking, and systems administration.  2:58:37 PM   comments ()

Drivel:  One of the other things I've been exploring is benchmarking the performance of networked applications and their respective components.  I've actually received quite a bit of interest in benchmarking native XML data stores.  I'm in the process of putting together a testing methodology based on the TCP-H specification.  I will be posting the results on my consulting site with a link to them from here.  12:18:16 AM   comments ()

Drivel:  I've been in a posting slump the past week or two.  Not a whole lot going on.  Actually, that's not entirely true.  There is a lot going on.  I'm starting two new web sites; one for my consulting business and another one for my research on Grid Computing.  Both should launch in the next couple of weeks.  In addition, I've been working on a site for a colleague in LA who authors SingularityWatch.com.  This, too, should be launching shortly.  12:12:10 AM   comments ()
