Drivel: The Grid computing space is really heating up. The war is on between Sun and IBM. Sun has GridEngines as a result of its purchase of GridWare for $19.2 million in stock and cash earlier this year. IBM has partnered with the Globus Project to produce a number of data Grids in the US and Europe. Additionally, there are a hand full of companies making a run at this space, including Avaki, InSors, Platform, and Blackstone Computing. Most of these guys are targeting the life sciences arena and massive R&D projects as the first examples of Grid. It will be a while before it catches on in the enterprise. 4:13:48 PM
