Well, if you can't beat 'em...
Well, since this blog is already on the first page for a particular search phrase, I may as well try to move up the rankings. To paraphrase one of Bloomington's former residents, The General hisself -- When you're one of the top hits in Google, you may as well just lay back and enjoy it... Ain't that right, Jeff? So with that in mind, I will now present something completely different. No, not really. ;-) As if "severed penis" isn't enough to give chills to most men, I just came across another phrase that will cause all sorts of extra chills. It comes from the following Brazzil Magazine April 1997 article (warning: nudity, cross-genderism, and potentially confusing parentage.): Attractive model can't get Brazilian govt to recognize her as female (not safe for work). And the new phrase is: "to extirpate her penis". That's right. Her penis. Extirpate. Wow. Oh, and sorry for the bad pun in the title, but that's what they're for, aren't they? 9:28:16 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
Well, it's a start, I guess...
Ashcroft wants stiffer penalties for identity theft From the WashPost article linked by the RISKS digest article: Since Congress established the offense of identity theft in October 1998, 2,223 criminal cases have been filed against 2,899 defendants. And Ashcroft is putting the (not unexpected) anti-terrorism spin on his effort. Meanwhile, "the nonprofit Privacy Rights Clearinghouse estimated that there are 500,000 to 700,000 cases annually". Sure seems like there's a wee bit of a gap between the estimated and the actual numbers there. Like the distance between Washington, DC and the current location of either of the Voyager space probes. I wonder when the Congress-folk will start to treat this issue a little more seriously? 7:42:32 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this [ blinked via RISKS Digest ]
ObVictim of Internet bubble bursting... Who'da thunk it? And now they're gonna concentrate on large businesses? I'm just shocked. Shocked, I say... 1:21:39 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
