Readjustment sequence commencing... The flights were OK. Indy to Cinci to Charleston, SC. Small fifty-seaters, and not much overhead bin space. You have to surrender your carry-on luggage (except purse and 'puter-sized bags) on the tarmac before you can go up the stairs into the plane. Minor hassle, but also a fun throwback to a kinder, gentler era of aviation travel. SHE and the mancub checked out the beach as soon as we got slightly settled into the cottage on Kiawah Island. It was about a two minute walk to the beach from the cottage (3br, 2ba, 4 tv sets) we would be staying in with my in-laws. The next day was pretty uneventful, and we got aquainted with the amenities available on the island. We all went for a ride to the beach on the bikes we rented for the week. Coaster bikes, they were. Two speeds, actually, fun and painful when going up an incline. Gears on bikes are good things, folks. Then we encountered the beach umbrella guy, and ended up with five days of rented umbrella and two chairs. Not a horrible deal, after hauling all of our stuff there that day. The umby and the chairs are there for you on the beach by 10am, and are struck down around 4:30pm. 4:55:17 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this
