Waiting out a Rain Delay in Atlanta

Rob Nen had the Giants one strike away from winning this game, when Chipper Jones singled in two runs to tie the game. Then it started raining in the top of the 10th. Three hours later, they are still waiting.

They have to complete the game tonight, because the Giants are heading to Florida tomorrow. I've got TiVo rolling to catch the rest of the game when it comes back on.

Update at 11:20 PM - The game has been suspended. I wonder when they will complete it.

Warning... political rant

touched off my Dave's following observation:

Woz is lookin good. We talked about the Internet music clampdown. We hadn't talked about music since Y2K, the heyday of Napster. He said something smart. If the govt wanted to stop spam, they could. He's probably right. Government of the people, by the people and for the people, has perished from the earth... [Scripting News]

This is news? We have had a government of rich, by the rich, and for the rich for as long as I have been voting. The truly sad thing is the system has worked it's way down to local government as well, where incumbents backed by large donors win landslides.

What does a low budget, grass roots, web-based campaign get you? 7,687 votes. If you want to spend a little money on a mail flyer, you can get about 6000 more votes.

Bush's Economic Charade [Dan Gillmor's eJournal]

This president has gotten Congress to pass ruinous tax cuts -- the vast majority going to the ultra-rich -- undermining the fiscal sanity that Clinton, for all his other faults, established during the 1990s. This president was sleazy in his own business dealings, and now pretends outrage at the corruption of others. This president fought against real reform and now claims to be its chief supporter.

I think that we have gotten to the point where we can safely say that while the recession wasn't the President's fault, the failed recovery is.
