Ed Cone introduces Tara Grubb. "She is the Libertarian Party candidate running against Howard Coble." [Scripting News] This leave me thinking about the Green party candidate running for California Governor. I can't abide the republican candidate. But I am really tired of centrist democrats. CNN and everyone else is reporting that the Major League Baseball players union has set a strike date of August 30. What does that mean for Mac fans. Nothing. But it will put to rest a conversation in my house, as I have still been following the Seattle Mariners' season even though there was every chance that a strike would happen. Natalie, you are right...it, meaning the standings and this MLB season, doesn't matter. Now I just wonder what I will listen to on the radio while out driving across the sagebrush lands of Eastern Washington while doing research for our upcoming book? Listening to the M's on the radio drove us home on a number of weekends so far this summer. No more... [Mac Net Journal] This is bad news! The hockey preseason doesn't start until September 19! What am I going to do for those two weeks? Somehow, I think I will survive. Baseball's players and owners need to understand one thing, they are not the only source of sports entertainment. I am older than my parents By virtue of their 9 year exile in Oklahoma and Texas, my parents are 31 year old Californians. That makes me the elder of the family. Ken moved out of state at 24, then came back for a couple of years. He is in Oregon now and stuck at 26 or 27 and clearly a case of arrested development. Beth, our only native, was behind me by 2 years at the start. She compounded this by spending time in South Carolina, Arizona, and North Carolina. While she is back and maturing again, her 12 year absence puts her at 26. So my parents are 9 years younger and my sibs are 14 years younger. I even have a few years on Michele. Six Years in California. Six years ago today, I drove our Honda over the Sierra Nevada, with two cats, my (ex-) wife Julie. I ignored the AAA directions and went over the Bay Bridge and onto I280.[Ozone Broadcasting] Happy 6th Birthday Bill! I never really thought about this before, but you are reborn when you arrive in California. Time outside the state, doesn't really matter. You are shaped by your time here. As a result, most people in the state are young. They have just a few years of life and are seeing the world for the first time. There are relatively few middle age or older Californians (I find myself in this group, with 40 California years on me). It's this youth that drives the State. Most policies are set by and for children and teenagers. When you realize this, California politics makes sense. 9:40:55 AM     Comment []
