Waiting for Jaguar

Well, it looks like I will have to wait another day. The UPS truck arrived while I was out this morning and posted a little note. A signature is required on delivery (in person) to receive a package from Apple.

Can anyone understand why I have to sit around the house, waiting for Jaguar to arrive tomorrow? Grrr.

Newton still going strong

Apple discontinued the Newton back in 1998 after Steve Jobs returned to the company...

Although the Newton hasn't been in production since then, that hasn't stopped enthusiastic developers and users from continuing to support the device with new and interesting hacks that have kept the platform going -- 802.11b wireless networking, for example... [MacCentral]

I keep finding new uses for my Newton. I kept score of the Giants-Rockies game with it last night. With the development of 802.11b drivers, it is now easier than ever to network a Newton. This extends the practical life of the machine, since you are no longer bound to keeping systems use old serial connections.

Four and a half years since I bought it, its still got legs.
