Anchorage Daily News | Anchorage's rainiest Oct. 1: "The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Anchorage at the height of the downpour. According to the weather service, by 3 p.m the city had received 1.48 inches of rain, breaking the 1948 record of 0.75 inches. At least a little bit of sunshine is forecast for today. The run has stopped, the sun has broken out, and the flood waters in my basement are receding. Good thing, too, because if the water got much hihger, I would have expected to see salmon spawining in my family room.
