Can we trust Microsoft's Palladium?
Could Palladium function as a kind of technological straitjacket, a Redmond-operated remote control over your data and, in consequence, your life? According to those who've looked closely at the proposal, the answer is a definite, unhelpful "maybe." But the better question is this: Why would Microsoft want to build such a restrictive system? [Tomalak's Realm]
Interesting article that poses some good questions. The problem is that 'Plutonium' is, like all MS projects, a moving target. The only answer you have to really look at..."how will this improve Microsofts bottom-line?" In the end, that is all that matters. Only when a project threatens that bottom-line, will MS back off. Will this be 'Palladium' or will it be 'Plutonium'?...mj
