The 2003 PhotoBlog Awards ->

"As many of you are aware, photoblogs were not added in as a category in the bloggies this year. It was a big surprise as the photoblogging community has rapidly grown in the past twelve months. I definitely thought there was a niche here that needed to be filled, at least for this year. After a little push from Marc North and a bit of contemplation, I have decided to do my own awards, The Photobloggies. I thought it was important to recognize the amazing work of others in our photoblogging community over the past year."

What happened to Rob Black, Desmond Crisis, David Lawrence, etc?

CNET Radio Direct FAQ -> What happened to Rob Black, Desmond Crisis, David Lawrence, etc?

You can find information about former CNET Radio personalities at their respective Web sites:
Rob Black.com
Desmond Crisis.com
AnchorDesk.com
Coursey.com
Online Tonight.com
Rose Aguilar's News We Can Use.com

Coursey.com -> What's Happening with David Coursey:

  • CNET Radio has left the air, but there is hope some of the old hosts (maybe even me) will return to XM Satellite Radio Channel 130.
  • Replacing the "old" CNET Radio is a new service, the desktop-delivered CNET Radio Direct, on which I will be appearing regularly.

    I hope CNET makes the Anchordesk radio show a daily subscription service of CNET Radio Direct.  David does a great job of conversing with analysts.  My only critique would be that the show expand outside the Microsoft/Apple universe more and talk more about leading edge technologies (It has at times and has done a great job). I think this would also help the shows' advertiser potential.  Who wants to advertise on a show that talks heavely about Microsoft.  Microsoft?  No need, the show itself is a free 30 minute advertisement. - H.G.

    BBC News Moblog

    Joi Ito's Web -> BBC News Moblog. Great example of the media harnessing new technology. Now all we need is video. Interesting, this was EXACTLY the example I always used to give when I talked about the future of Internet and IT. This was also the example I gave to Chairman Shima of NHK to get him excited about getting online. It's a great feeling to see your "dreams come true." I also remember the news people who laughed at me. I wonder where they are? They're probably still editing tape in expensive studios instead of using a iLife on the Mac. ;-p

    BBC News Online wants to report the world from your perspective. And the digital revolution will help us to do that. So, if you have been active with your phone camera, or any other digital camera, send us your pictures.

    Thanks for the link Matt. Dan Gillmor talks about this too. [Joi Ito's Web]

    Scripting News -> Everyone is pointing to this BBC article, and rightly so. They are welcoming amateur journalists. This is so right on. [Scripting News]

    Werblog -> Seattle Times: "For the most part content providers are not licensing their content [for video on demand]," said Yankee Group analyst Aditya Kishore. "There's a lot of risk for them, and most of them aren't in a rush to do this." [Werblog]

    The original proposal of the WWW, HTMLized, by Tim Berners-Lee

    The original proposal of the WWW, HTMLized, by Tim Berners-Lee
    This document was an attempt to persuade CERN management that a global hypertext system was in CERN's interests. Note that the only name I had for it at this time was "Mesh" -- I decided on "World Wide Web" when writing the code in 1990. [via Karl] [A Frog in the Valley.]
