2003 Denver Mayoral Election
Phil Perington is the subject of this in-depth look from the Rocky Mountain News. The Rocky also has an interview with Perington and a short bio. The Rocky quotes Perington as saying, "I have made the decision to run as an independent - unaffiliated - which has come with its criticism but it's also come with its compliments. Being an independent will allow me to actually reach out across the table and get the brightest, the best, the most qualified people. I just want to be able to go to work with people that I trust, that are ethical, who are working in the best interests of the city."
The candidates faced off in another mayoral forum yesterday. The Denver Post has an article on the United Way Forum.
Another Post story about Ari Zavaras' ad pitching the importance of education. From the article, "The grades issue may have hurt the candidate's credibility with voters. A poll of 400 people released this month showed that 31 percent had an unfavorable opinion of Zavaras. 'I'm not doing this ad because of the polls,' Zavaras said. 'I truly understand the importance of education, and my personal story is that I flunked out, but I still have had a successful career."
